Hannah Grace is the first book in "The Daughters of Jacob Kane" series ...and I loved it! I have read her "Little Hickman Creek" series previously and found it delightful as well. I am an avid reader of historical age inspriational fiction and these series fit the bill, Where they were not loaded with historical information as some books that I have loved were .. they were set in the correct age which I truly enjoy. Sharlene has a tendency to write with humor, tenderness with a a bit of suspense mixed in and loaded with Christian inspiration which makes for a truly enjoyable book series and something I truly love.

The setting is 1903 and Gabe Devlin, has set out on his own to become the new sheriff of Sandy Shores, Michigan. On his way there he manages to pick up what he thinks is a young mute waif that stowes away in his wagon. He doesn't really want him, but he doesn't really know what to do with the little guy so he decides to keep him until he finds out who he belongs to. Little does he know that Jesse, the young boy, had wittnessed a murder of the foster parents that had just taken him in and he was running for his life.

In Sandy Shores, he meets Hannah Grace, one of the three Kane sisters ... and she is more than a match for the sheriff. She falls takes one look at the poor bedraggled little guy and decides that Gabe, has mistreated him and wants to protect him .. then the next thing you know she has fallen in love with Jesse, herself. It is adorable ... and having her sisters, her grandmother and father thrown into the mix along with the other townspeople .. really just add to the flavor of both the town and this darling book. Of course, there is always the suspense of the men that murdered the foster parents of Jesse lurking in the background surrounding this whole book ... which adds to one of the reasons it is so hard to put down.

I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to starting Maggie Rose, which I have waiting for me to read next.

What a wonderful Christian love story. This was the first book I read by Sharlene and I have now read six of them. Every one of them were fantastic. I highly recommend any of Shar's book. You will be blessed!
Sharlene MacLaren is a great Christian author!
Here I must be honest I have not read this book. It was a gift part 1 of 3 of a christian based love story. Not my genre. But the person reading the novel was very pleased with the story and the author's style of writing.
It was an unexpected story. I loved it. The spiritual center was refreshing without being preachy. I give it five stars!
After reading Sharlene MacLaren's Little Hickman Creek series I was thrilled to find there was yet another series by this amazing author. This first book in the Daughter's of Jacob Kane did not disappoint me. I very much enjoyed the romance between Hannah Grace and her hero. The author drew me in from the first chapter. I would love to live in a town like this and be a part of a family like the Kanes. I can't wait to start the 2nd book, Maggie Rose. I just know this is going to be another series by Sharlene MacLaren that I will hate to see end.
I've enjoyed all of Sharlene Maclaren's books and am now anxious to read the rest of this series! Hannah Grace kept my interest and made me want to keep reading to the end. I enjoyed all the characters in this book with the exception of the villains. I thought it was a bit far fetched for them to chase a little boy who was a witness to their crime when they could have just left the area but it really didn't impact my enjoyment of the story. You will finish this book wanting to belong to the Kane family or at least move to Sandy Shores and become their close friends 0)
Hannah Grace is content with her life in turn-of-the century Michigan in a lovely town called Sandy Shores. Along with her two sisters, she helps run her father's general store in addition to being courted by the town physician.

She's well on her way to a proposal when Gabriel Devlin, the new sheriff, comes into town. Despite a flicker of attraction, the appearance of a young runaway boy puts them at odds.

As the two enter a mutual agreement to take care of the boy, trying to coax him into trusting them, they discover his past is more complicated than they thought. Criminals are on their way to Sandy Shores and suddenly a random death joins the mystery of the lost boy.

Hannah and Gabe work together, drawing closer in their concern and mutual faith. Suddenly, Hannah sees a whole new possibility for a future and Gabe has decided to pursue her love. In the wake of suspense, adventure and romance, Hannah and Gabe must figure out the history behind the missing boy and keep the town safe.

Hannah Grace is a wonderful story, start to finish. The characters are humorous and believable. I look forward to the next in the series.
