Warning: Spoilers. At first I thought, this is it, this is what 50 Shades of Grey really should have been like but I was just as quickly disappointed. The writing was ok, the plot was unbelievable. The character development was shoddy, the relationships between characters was just as unbelievable. Supposedly the sexual therapist had no idea what alternative cultures existed out there. She goes to a club to find out and leaves before anything happens or she even gets out of her chair? Then this man falls in love with the idea of her and wants to dominate and control her but all we see is them hook up and fall in love and only hint at this control issue he has. Then of course there's a jilted lover, who keeps interfering and insinuating problems where there are none. The Doc up and leaves after finding out the jilted lover & her man hooked up before the doc and he even started dating? How very adult. Add to this a jealous player and it's a farce. Don't forget the happily ever after and it's enough to make you beg for real erotica.

Saying Yes A Game of Seduction Heather M Miles 9780997038705 Books Reviews

WOW.... At first, I thought this story was going to be a lot like 50 Shades of Grey, but that wasn't so, it took way past the first half of the book before Lake and Elize even had sex, there seemed to be a big build up to it with Eliza being the recipient of all of Lakes sexual prowess. What I had a hard time believing was Eliza is a doctor of psychology in deviant sexual behavior and how she needed to go to a sex club and try to experience that kind of sex but Lake, the owner of the club, who is infatuated by Eliza since the first time she walked into the club he wants her for himself, so he first starts out as a patient for Eliza to get to know him and as the sessions go on he starts making overt suggestions towards Eliza. Eliza stops him, he quits being her patient and they start a sexual relationship. I can see from the moment they became involved he was very dominant and controlling with Elize being a psychologist doesn't recognize this in him??? Hard to believe! I would have liked to see her set him straight and not taking it and using her psychology background to help him learn how to deal with this, not just her thinking about hooking up and falling in love with him and then leaves after she finds out that her best friend (male) and Lake knew each other before she hooked up with Lake and were archenemies. I just found the plot a little confusing with everyone involved and it left me feeling let down when there were a lot of better ways to handle all the relationships in the story, but that is just my opinion. But if you want to read a story with a lot of sexual content and not care about how great the story line is you may enjoy the story better than I did.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The premise of the book was interesting. A clinical Psychologist that treats and specializes in human sexuality is challenged to broaden her understanding by a patient. For a woman that specializes in "sexual behavior, the lack thereof, and a variety of other unusual behaviors", Dr. Eliza Swift seems terribly naive when she would have studied all of these types of issues for her PH.D.

She gets her best friend, a womanizing sex crazy, Nick Slade to take her to The Raven's Nest. It is a high-end sex club that is below radar, in which she would feel comfortable. The club is one he belongs to, and she wants to observe or take part in some activities while she's there. She talks to a few people making small talk with the bartender and what is essentially the manager/concierge of the place signs a form and basically leaves, but not before catching the interest and attention of Lake Mitchell as he observes her unaware of him.

Lake Mitchell then decides to make an appointment as one of her patients! She is attracted, but feels that it would be unethical to act on any of his suggestions. He levels with her about observing her and who he really is and they begin talking and flirting. Later, he tells her that he doesn't want her to be in a room in the club unless she is there with him. She seems content to let the quest at the club go and exchange it for time with Lake Mitchell.

He is EXTREMELY possessive of her and seems to push his way into her life. She seems to get slightly frustrated. He doesn't like to take no for an answer, and keeps pushing at a subject until the person's mind is changed. He likes to say things like, "Stop fighting the inevitable." when she disagrees with something he wants to do. He seems slightly obsessed with all things Dr. Eliza Swift. He seems to begrudge her spending time with her best friend, although he does know how Nick feels so there is that. Lake and Nick are adversaries for a few reasons. The two men fight over Eliza's affections. Nick wants to be more than just her friend. She only thinks of him as her friend, especially after she gets involved with Lake. Nick doesn't want her to be involved with Lake and is afraid he will hurt her.

Lake and Eliza share intimacy, but have to overcome obstacles as a past relationship causes friction. Is Eliza too afraid to trust him with her heart? Could the things she is hearing from his ex true? Will she confront him or ask him about what has been told her?

I did not like how much of a doormat Eliza seemed to be with Lake. He doesn't use protection when they are finally intimate, and this was after Eliza knows the amount of people that he's slept with. He even goes through her purse and THROWS AWAY HER BIRTH CONTROL PILLS when she assures him that it was okay that protection was not used that time because she was on the pill. She only rails for a bit, and still continues the behavior (no protection plus no pills) for weeks?! This seems out of character, but I guess being in love makes them a little crazy.

Lake goes overboard showing his love, devotion, affection, so her rejection at times rang a little false. His ex tells her something and she takes it for truth, even though he is showing her something totally opposite of those lies. Things got resolved but it seems a little far fetched at times. There were a few areas that could have benefited from proof-reading, but it did not take away from the story.

I enjoyed reading this. It was sweet how much he really loved her. There is a thin line between that and slightly stalking. This could have turned totally that direction if Eliza had not been interested in Lake Mitchell. He has such a strong personality. The characters could have been fleshed out a bit more. I felt like there were a few things mentioned here and there that could have been elaborated more on, but the overall story was very intriguing. I would read more from this author.

This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review.
I liked all the different characters, Especially "E" and Lake. Plenty of steamy sex scenes but there was a good story as well.
This is the fourth book by this author that I have read. I can tell her writing improves with each book that she writes. This book was enjoyable, hard to put down and I love the main characters of Lake and Eliza. I would recommend this book to everyone.
Eliza & Lake. This is a really good love story! Explicit sex between lovers.Lake sees Eliza in his sex club. She is a novice and came out of curiosity since she is a sex therapist. She heard about the club from one of her patients. She convinces her childhood friend Nick to bring her. Lakes obsession with Eliza turns into real love. Convincing Eliza of his love is the basis of the story.
